Two new textbooks for the Deaf in Namibian Sign Language

The Center for Communication and Deaf studies (CCDS) in Namibia has released two new textbooks in Namibian Sign Language in cooperation with ICEIDA, the Icelandic International Development Agency. The Communication Center is also releasing a documentary film regarding employment of the Deaf in the country. The Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) will broadcast the documentary soon.

ICEIDA has for years supported Deaf education and Sign Language development in Namibia, especially work that relates to teaching materials and awareness of Sign Language and Deaf issues in the community. Both the textbooks and the documentary film are a part of that support, according to David Bjarnason, Project Manger of ICEDIA in Namibia.
